The Government of the Region of Madrid announced on Tuesday that an official sponsor of the Davis Cup tennis for three years until 2010.
The agreement, by which the Office of Tourism Madrid sponsor of the competition, was announced Tuesday by the president of the Community of Madrid, Esperanza Aguirre, in the presence of the president of the International Tennis Federation (ITF), the Italian Francesco Ricci.
The main sponsor of the Davis Cup is the French bank BNP Paribas, along with brands Rolex, Hugo Boss, Kia Motors and NH Hotels.
The first round of the Davis Cup (in which a total of 127 countries) will be held in February in the Spanish capital.
The city of Madrid, which in 2007 hosted men’s Masters Series and Tennis Masters female, wants to become one of the capitals of this sport.
Madrid is also a candidate to host the Olympics in 2016, after the London 2012.
